Description
The presence of a text file with an otherwise well-known extension of a binary in the doc directory may lead to unexpected results. I suggest we rename that file to something more expected, such as VERSION.TXT.
If this should be reported upstream due to xplat implications, I can do that.

Indeed. I knew I'd seen it before, but could not recall even posting that bug.

With the next build, it might be useful to add this back to the main package and not just devel.
