Ticket Resolution Summary Owner Reporter
#56 fixed FAT32 partition : file contents vanish Barry Landy
Description

This ticket is included for completness

IN #45 lewisr refers to "a user of Arcaos" having a problem and leaving it to him to report. I am that user and I did not report it because lewisr said it was fixed in v249.

I installed the then layest version and have indeed not seen the "vanishing contents problem" but instead hit problem #46

When obeying some CMD files instead of the CMD being obeyed the content of the file is cleared instead.

So far as I can see this only affects files on a FAT32 formatted partition.

It does not happen for all files but for those it does it is 100% consistent.

This is not an effect I have ever seen before and I wonder if it could possibly be a FAT32 bug. Steps To Reproduce (on my system!) Boot ARCAOS 5.0

Open an OS2 command window type "ex" (not quotes)

The ex.cmd contains just exit so this should cause the window to exit. Instead it returns to the prompt, and looking at the file (type cmd\ex.cmd) shows the contents have gone.

#57 fixed Fatal error in reading USB key Anchieri
Description

Actually I use ARCAOS 5.0 that come installed without any problem and so I have upgraded installed version of fat32 with the new:fat32-0.10-r293-os2.wpi, for testing. using:

  • SanDisk? Cruzer Edge 16 GB this function perfectly, I can read and Write on it
  • Kingston DTSE9 G2 USB 3.0 16 GB with this the system hung immediately and I have to power off and then reboot the system (CAD don't function).

I thought that this error is due to the new widget RemMedia?.dll and uninstall it, but the problem remain, this USB device is not recognized and the system hung.

Using the official version fat32_0913.wpi I can read and write on this USB key.

#49 worksforme File open container (Lucide), FM/2 and drives folder hang opening a unifat fat 16 drive. Fat 32 drives also exibit the hang. Gregg Young
Description

The file open container is the replacement container shipped with ArcaOS. FM/2 traps in fm3dll.dll. The other 2 just hang. I have system dumps for all three. To get the system dumps I had to add a ps2 keyboard since C-A-F10-F10 failed from my usb keyboard implying that the problem takes the usb stack down. Power off is the only option without the ps2 keyboard.

I have included a limited analysis of the dump below. Please let me know if you wish additional analysis or if you want the whole dump where to upload it.
