freeze/crash with new 3.12 beta 3

Reported by: Andy Willis Owned by:

Description

On my system I drop connection to my wireless router occasionally and the only way to get wpa_supplicant to reconnect is to change to another profile (doesn't need to be one in range) and then switch back. Most of the time with the new version, when I make the switch it will freeze for awhile and then crash:

This is new with beta3? Did you test beta2 and did not have this problem? If yes then I might have a clue where to look.

What I find a bit strange is that you've installed wlanstat into the xcenter plugins path. But that should not matter. Guess you've checked in properties panel that wpa_supplicant 2.2 (eCS-v1) (or something like that) is used, correct? Guess then you've wpa_supplicant.exe in \xcenter\. and another copy in \xcenter\xwlan too.

Regarding 'you have to change profile' - does properties dialog entry WPA supplicant - Reconnect work too? Another way which should always work is turn Radio off and on again (2 times double click with my settings).

Did not have email in preferences to receive trac notification. AndiB contacted me on IRC, adding info here too.
beta2 did not have this problem
Not on every change of profile will it to crash (60+%). When it crashes, it will first freeze and not respond for 30-60s then crash.
Turn off radio and back on also works as I recall but it was always faster to change profiles to normally a non existent WEP connection and then back to the desired wpa2 connection. Seems that it requires killing wpa_supplicant and then restarting it for the wireless connection to be remade.

Can you test please beta4 - ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/wlan/xwlan312beta4.zip

I could reproduce this trap with beta3. But not with the current code in beta4. Hope it is solved for you too.

The Information panel still shows beta3 although it is beta 4. But date is correct. Sorry being to lazy to repack again.....
