System freeze on Beep RC4
Reported by: | Steve Wendt | Owned by: | Yoda |

Component: | UNIAUD16 | Version: | 1.1.4 |
Severity: | normal | Keywords: | HDA ICH9 ALC883 |

Description
Using ECS RC3 on Asus P5K Motherboard with Realtek 8 channel sound. The driver load and detection appears OK, but the system freezes when it attemps to Beep, such as clicking on a greyed out item or when a program prompts for input. The Beep is not sounded.
The issue seems to be with UNIDAUD16.SYS, if I comment this out then the beep sounds (on the case speaker) and there is no freeze. I get no sound generated on the speaker output.

Please test with unaiud32.sys from http://download.smedley.info/uniaud32-1.9.2.zip - preferably with unaiud16.sys from 1.1.4RC5

Please test with a current build of Uniaud from http://svn.netlabs.org/uniaud and reopen or create a new ticket if the report is still valid.
Although it might seem like uniaud16 - this is not the case. What happens when you remove uniaud16 is, that you disable the whole MMOS2 system - and when OS/2 detects that, it defaults to use PC-speaker for beeps.
As far as I can see, your HDA (ICH9) is most likely not yet supported by our code. You will most likely have to wait until Resync process is done, before support for this will work.
