#68 closed defect (No Change Needed)

Intel P4 system doesn't boot anymore

Reported by: Paavo Nurminen Owned by: pasha

Component: ACPI PSD Version: 3.03

Description

I installed Acpi 3.03 to Intel P4 system, eCS 2.0 RC2, SMP kernel. It seems to mess all so that I expect that I have to reinstall the operating system.

  1. Trap screen. Uniaud driver 1.14 RC3 seemed to be problem maker.
  1. Remmed out uniaud drivers from config.sys. Did not boot.
  1. Remmed out acpi related lines in config.sys. Did not boot.
  1. Changed to uni-kernel. Did not boot.

Acpi 3.03 works with eCS 1.2GA and uni-kernel.

if don't work with "2. Remmed out acpi related lines in config.sys. Did not boot." - so acpi don't need in fix

Q66: I disabled ACPI.PSD and can't boot anymore A66: There are two suggestions:

1) detach the PC from AC, disconnect battery if using laptop.

Wait for 10 minutes, turn PC on again.

2) check filesystem: chkdsk x: /f

(boot from eCS CD1 or other bootable partition)
