Initial message:

eCS 2.0 RC2 was installed on a ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard with 2GB RAM and with a Core2 Quad processor. It was installed as a single CPU and SMP was added after the install. The system didn't update the PSD line but /SMP and /R was added to make PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /R. All 4 CPUs are recognised.

Firefox crashes regularly. The time between crashes varies between 2 and 30 minutes. I've attached the error log of 2 crashes.

Id you use os2apic.psd, have you a crash FF too?

try boot with IBM os2apic.psd driver, do you have the same troubles with firefox?

do you have HyperThreading? enabled? try disable it.

I rebooted with IBM os2apic.psd (and at the same time disabled the onboard 1394 device). This didn't crash Firefox. I then changed back to acpi and this now works. I haven't had a crash for several days. What does happen is that every 2-5mins the screen goes black and then restores itself. Very annoying. I haven't got ACPI 2.0 enabled in the Bios. There is no entry for Hyperthreading in the BIOS. eCS sees all 4 CPUs and they work very weel.

OK, the problem with Firefox disappeared.

Please make additional research,

  • don't run acpidaemon
  • check BIOS setup, disable suspend options, power management timings, etc.
  • are there more computers in the network?

the screen goes black if other computer obtains your IP

Please try disable 2 CPUs and keep 2 CPUS only: x:\OS2\MPCPUMON.EXE - enable/disable a CPU, etc.

does eComStation work stable with 2 active CPUs?
