Shutdown causes reboot

Reported by: guest Owned by: pasha
Priority: major Milestone: Release version 3.08
Component: ACPI PSD Version: 3.04

Description

ECS RC3. When selecting shutdown on the menu, the machine does not shutdown and turn off but reboots. This item worked fine in RC1 and RC2 on this machine. Desktop machine with a PCCHIPS motherboard, socket A, Via KT266a + VT8235 chipset. Tried ACPI and APM but both gave the same results.

I also have this issue with ACPI ver. 3.04 (ASUS P4C800 deluxe board - Intel 875P). Poweroff also causes a reboot. 3.03 (and previous) worked good.

PowerOff?.exe do power off computer, pause, turn on again. Right?

  • Version changed from 3.03 to 3.04

Does not work with Poweroff.exe. Poweroff.exe also causes reboot just like picking shutdown from shutdown menu. This is for orginal ticket configuration of PCCHIPS motherboard M811, Socket A, Via KT266A + VT8235 chipset. ECS RC3

Yes... that's right.

Yes, I think I understand what you are saying. It does seem like it is powering off but it then reboots always checking the CD/DVD drive before it reboots. The sequence of events is different then if you choose reboot on the shutdown menu. The result is the same for either choice though a reboot of the machine. Hope that helps. Poweroff.exe works just like shutting down on the shutdown menu.

Done... I tried APM and ACPI eWPS shutdown, as well as PowerOff?. All rebooted instead of turn off.

Add to os2\boot\acpi.cfg

GPEDisable 0x1D

And check PowerOff?

if fail, create acpi.log and attach here
