Thinkpad T60 with ACPI 3.0.3 sometime traps

Reported by: Chuck McKinnis Owned by: pasha
Priority: major Milestone:
Component: ACPI PSD Version: 3.03

Description

Funny (or not).

After trying to start the acpidaemon.exe manually without getting a trap, I removed the "rem" before the "RUN=D:\OS2\CMD.EXE /C D:\OS2\ACPIDAEMON.EXE" in the config.sys and now it works too!

Willibald will try the same with his T60 and will tell me the result!

Ok. I want "copy acpica$ acpi.log" now. When has't trap and any. But only after running AcpiDaemon?

comment:2 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Hi pasha,

my system now runs since 53 min after booting with ACPI 3.0.3, config.sys now is:

rem ACPI/APM soll in erster Zeile stehen rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /VBE /APIC rem PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /APIC BASEDEV=APM.ADD RUN=D:\OS2\CMD.EXE /C D:\OS2\ACPIDAEMON.EXE

New log will be acpi.log.303c !

Ok. Here is some problem with embedded controller. Check correct work battery pls. Do you use battery widjet here?

comment:4 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Hi, yes I use the battery widget "beer battery widget 7.0".

I just rebooted and attached a new log acpi.log.303d - until now it looks ok!

The way I was going to "get" and "resolve" the problems:

I installed eCS20rc1 on my T60 and updated always the ACPI, Panorama, DANI and GenMAC drivers to the latest level. ACPI with fastupdate worked up to 3.0.2, but after the fastupdate to 3.0.3 I got the described trap (always, with and without GenMAC).

So I replaced the "acpi.psd" and "acpi32.dll" from the 3.0.2 and it worked again. Willibald had the same problem, but he replaced the 3.0.3 with an even older version (3.0)!

acpidaemon.log told me that I now have: Build date: Sep 28 2007 12:24:43 is started 08 Oct 11:22:03 AcpiDaemon? Detect ACPI.PSD Version: 3.2 ACPICA.ADD Version: 3.2 ACPI32.DLL Version: 3.2 .IRQ9 used 08 Oct 11:22:03 AcpiDaemon? Start addr PSD:f96e2f97 Start Adr driver:0 08 Oct 11:22:03 AcpiDaemon? Detect ACPI APM version 1.18

Because Willibald had success with version 3.0 and ACPI32.DLL Version 3.3 (he forgot to replace it with the old version during downgrading) I also updatetd to ACPI32.DLL version 3.3.

Because it still was working I made a fastupdate to 3.0.3 again and started with remed-out acpidaemon. This worked and I even could start the acpidaemon manually so finaly I removed the rem in the config.sys for the acpidaemon and restarted the system - it also started without trap and that's where I am now!

But GenMAC with s/r still is not working on my T60 while it works on Willibalds T60 quite good (109A and 4227). I have the same devices!

What is device 1002:7149 in your notebook? And work USB correct? In acpi.log we can see PCI scan. One problem with working device can be in IRQ. You use /APIC mode, so we have 3 device in IRQ16.

BTW, acpi32.dll from v 3.0 to 3.03 don't changes ;-)

Vendor 1002h ATI Technologies Inc Device 7149h Mobility Radeon X1300

I just tested an USB-stick and an USB-mouse, both are working!

You use /APIC mode, so we have 3 device in IRQ16.

Yes, Willibald also uses it, but GenMAC s/r does not work with /PCI too!

Willibald has a X1400 but the only difference is, that the bus-frequency is a little bit faster!

BTW, acpi32.dll from v 3.0 to 3.03 don't changes ;-)

OK, so you only change the version number?

USB-mouse is USB 1.0 ? And work from any connector in motebook? Better try all, that is in notebook.

What is "s/r". Send/Receive??

Version changes at all components, when build new version. But version is checked in apm.add and acpi32.dll for API (for Intel ACPI CA functions don't checked)

suspend/resume?

Willibald use panorama too?

Yes, otherwise the laptop is not useable!

suspend/resume?

Ah ;-) Ok. Then we need going to next step;

  1. Replace acpi.psd to acpi.psd from debug directory
  2. Set in %etc%\acpid.cfg

PowerButton? = Suspend SleepState? = S3

Wait AcpiDaemon? say "reread cfg"

  1. open full screen OS/2 session
  2. Press button Power

There (in screen) will be any message from apm.add and acpi.psd. Wait for freeze and attach here photo of screen.

If freeze at wakeup - message must going too, make photo and attach here. If you have comport. Add /O1 to acpi.psd, all this message will go to comport too. /O1 mean "debug output to com1"

USB-mouse is USB 1.0 ?

I rather think 1.1

And work from any connector in motebook? Better try all, that is in notebook.

I tried all three and the mouse works on all of them!

Hi,

There (in screen) will be any message from apm.add and acpi.psd. Wait for freeze and attach here photo of screen. If freeze at wakeup - message must going too, make photo and attach here.

should it freeze?

I got the trap always before the PMShell/WPS was loading!

Can, if you have problem

I got the trap always before the PMShell/WPS was loading!

After wakeup? If yes, replace your os2kernl to debug kernel. Debug kernel don't show trap to screen . Then do wakeup and make photo.

No, I got the trap when booting the system, see trap-screen at #124!

It is this ticket? 125? or reopen ticket 124 and begin procedure from first - try remming start AcpiDaemon?

comment:16 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Hi,

It is this ticket?

I send my first problems to Eugene, he opened #124!

Then he told me to login, open a new ticket and chat with you!

So I created #125 and here I am!

try remming start AcpiDaemon?

I have done all this, see my first comment in this ticket and see my long description "The way I was going to "get" and "resolve" the problems:" above!

Willibald (who has the same problems with 3.0.3) will do it in the same way and will report me what happened - but I don't expect an answer before tomorrow!

comment:17 Changed 16 years ago by pasha

Ok. I have lost talking ;-) What is now? You can boot to WPS or you can't boot to WPS?

comment:18 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Hi,

Ok. I have lost talking ;-) What is now? You can boot to WPS or you can't boot to WPS?

now everything works fine, I only have to restart the XCenter after s/r and GenMAC does not yet work with s/r on my T60 while it works on Willibalds.

But Willibald downgraded ACPI to 3.0 (or what ever) because he also was not able to boot after he installed ACPI 3.0.3!

So I will wait now what happens with Willibalds T60, he asumed that the problem with 3.0.3 is a timing problem, so I don't know if it works for ever on my T60!

Resolution: fixed

Hi

Ok. I have understand now.

As I know, Willibald has comport for debug. Need make debug session with his, as we have with you. Another T60 can has another IRQ and another event.

So I closed this ticket. As you or Willibald will ready. open new ticket. For you for suspend-resume, for Willibald trap or what he has with acpi 3.03. In any case, if open new ticket, attach acpi.log from version which can boot.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
