Description
I have two USB printers, Brother HL-2070N B&W laser printer and Lexmark X5150. The last one I can't use under eCS because there is no driver either i eCS or CUPS. The laser printer often "disappear", that means it does not respond when I try to print something and it does not show up in USBDock. The strange thing is that if I open the property book for the printer and then for the output port (USB) I find the message that the printer is OFFLINE (DETACHED). Booting to Vista without touching any cable or switch everything is OK and I can print in Vista. Sometimes (eCS) I just have to move the cable to another USB port, sometime I have to reinstall the printer and printer port and sometime it just start working again. At the moment I can't reinstall the printer port because eCS can't see the printer. The Lexmark printer always shows up in USBDock. This has lasted for a long time, but just recently I started to think this has to do with USB.

Sorry, but I have no access to the version fields anymore.
At this moment I'm using usbhcd195, but a few days ago I used 11.05 with the same result. I have installed and used most of the usbhcd versions from 182 with the same result. In ticket #69 I had a similar problem.

1) What happens if you unplug and plug back in the Printer ? Does that help ?
2) use Version 11.06 of the Drivers. It has just been released and is available via Betazone.

As a test you could also use the original IBM Drivers 10.162 for USBD.SYS and USBUHCD.SYS,USBOHCD.SYS,USBEHCD.SYS and also the original IBM Driver 10.71 for USBPRT.SYS.

Are you attaching the printer directly to a USB port of the PC or are you using an external USB hub to attach it to ?
If you can get the printer detected at least once, make sure you get the detailed device info from USBDock and attach it here.

The new drivers (11.06) doesn't help and I still do not see the printer, but I have to open a new ticket like #69 since the wireless mouse is not seen by the USBDock any more with or without unplugging/replugging. Thank heaven I also have a cable connected mouse, it works.
To the last question: I have attached the cable to all USB ports, one by one. To USB ports on the PC, to USB hubs with and without electrical power - and I will start over again with the new drivers.
Where do I find the original IBM drivers?

Forget about the mouse. I booted Vista to make sure the mouse itself was ok and it was. Booting to eCS and the mouse works. It seems to be something strange with the USB ports since I sometime has to switch port or just take a trip to Vista and its ok again. But I am still struggling with the Brother printer.

Original IBM drivers:
Log in at the eComstation website, then browse to:
http://www.ecomstation.com/ecsdb/downloadsearch.phtml?search=USB
Drill down the list and you will eventually find these:
1) IBM USB Basic Device Driver Support (these are USBD.SYS and the HC drivers and also USBHID.SYS)
2) IBM USB Print Support (this is USBPRT.SYS)
It would be interesting to know if replacing with 2) fixes your printer problem or replacing with 1)
If you have these weird problems when booting from one OS to the other: use the /FS switch on all HC drivers (USBUHCD.SYS, USBOHCD.SYS, USBEHCD.SYS) and see if that helps.

Please, don't close this ticket. I am on a travel, but will be back at home in a week or so. Then I will do the testing.

Please specify version of the USB drivers you are using in the "Version" field.
