USB mouse not working with build 10.193

Description

The summary says it all; I have not tested any other USB devices with this driver package as using a keyboard to move around the Desktop is just too clunky.

Mouse is: Logitech Wireless USB Trackball M570

No, I did not pull and reinsert the wireless receiver to see if that would get the mouse working.

Instead I reverted to the Lars Erdmann 10.191 build of these drivers which work fine here.

Change History (4)

1) The first thing to do: replace USBD.SYS from the 10.193 package with the one contained in the 10.191 package. Report back if that makes a difference.
2) The second thing to do: use vrwp33.zip (completely, including .TFF files) from ticket #25 and see if that helps. Report back.

As always: back up the drivers and it's advantageous to have a second partition that works so that you can replace back drivers or you will have to boot from the installation DVD ...

Hi Lars

I retested these drivers and they work fine with my wireless trackball now. Note no other testing performed at this point in time.

I'm not sure but think that I failed to replace usbd.sys with the build from this package when I first tested due to distractions at home while unzipping and installing the drivers.

A case of "Operator error: Please replace operator" ;-)

Please close this ticket as my report is incorrect - but, before you do, maybe you can answer the following:-

I do notice that these drivers all have Properties that declares them to be Executable and the icons for these drivers are program icons. I have changed the Properties of all these drivers to Type: Plain Text and Become: WPDatafile.

Another problem: The useful getdesc.dll built by Lars Erdmann does not work with these 4 driver files. When I run usbcfg.exe I get 4 errors all identical:-

Error

GETDESC.DLL GetDescription call failed

Having clicked OK to each error in turn USBcfg.exe starts but the Vendor and Revision data for these 4 drivers is missing.

Any ideas why GETDESC.DLL does not work with these driver files?

Regards

Pete

1) the drivers from the 10.193 are all ok ?

2) about the icons: I assume you are using XWorkplace/eWorkplace: the drivers show the executable icon instead of the DLL icon because they are mixed 16-bit/32-bit drivers that are marked with "PHYSICAL DEVICE" instead of "LIBRARY" as the module type. That will lead to display of the executable icon. That has no further practical consequences and there is no need to change the file type.

3) about GETDESC.DLL: do you have problems with the 10.193 drivers regarding that matter ? Or also with the replacement drivers from the vrwp33.zip package for example ?
