#3 (Trap 000e on shutdown - UPDATED AGAIN) – UNIAUD

comment:1 by criguada_at_libero_nO_sPaM_it, 21 years ago

This happens EVERY time on shutdown, but apparently only if I select poweroff. Normal reboot won't trap.

I have this also. Sound is VIA, non-shared interrupt. In the trap display output below the value EBP=0 looks weird.

PCI output:

Do you have Theseus4 installed?

comment:4 by criguada_at_libero_nO_sPaM_it, 21 years ago

I noticed today that invoking APM sleep mode triggers the trap too. It seems that UNIAUD is somehow conflicting with APM. VIA sound here, too.

Valdest: yes, I have Theseus 4 installed.

Hi vladest, no news about this topic? What do you want me to look at using theseus?

ok, sorry miss your mention about theseus you have use theseus to get offset of the trap within uniaud32 run theseus4 goto: system->general system->device drivers then: function->show description, enter eip into enter field then press enter in the window check line: The address is at offset <bla-bla> into uniaud32 I need this <bla-bla>

OK, here it is:

Description of Linear Object F604A1F1, PID = 0000, name = 'system': It is 'm-UNIAUD32' (decoded owner from object record). The address is at offset 0001C1F1 into the memory object.

Hope this helps...

Hi Vladest, I still get the trap with the new version you sent me. I sent you the details in private mail.

Summary:	Trap 000e on shutdown - UPDATED → Trap 000e on shutdown - UPDATED AGAIN

Hi Vladest, sorry for the long delay. I tried the new uniaud32.sys, but unfortunately I had a trap in the exact same location (CS:EIP) as the previous build you sent me. Bye

Cris

Do you have ACPI loaded on that system (ACPI.PSD)? Maybe you should download latest version (2.06).

Hi Roderick, no I do not have ACPI loaded. ACPI implementation of APM is still incomplete and it does not correctly manage CPU throttling on my CPU, leading to high heat and energy consumption. I do not have upgrade protection (or what it is called) so I am not entitled to the very latest ACPI drivers. On the other hand, I think UNIAUD should correctly work even without ACPI, shouldn't it?

I have not been able to pin point the problem. But agree with you yes. Some models of Thinkpads might not work with APM. But for example the A31, T40 and T42 should work with proper APM properly. The soundmax driver supports suspend and resume on these models. I can even let Z play an MP3 file and close the screen. Then open it again and it begins to play music again... (I have a Thinkpad t40)

Let me add something to this. The A31 and T42 also work correctly with the Soundmax driver.

comment:20 by criguada_at_libero_nO_sPaM_it, 21 years ago

Hi Roderick, I am not using a laptop computer. I have tried several times to contact Pasha (the ACPI developer) to inform him about my issue with CPU throttling, but I always get my messages back saying something like "domain not allowed". I'll send you the original letter I sent to Pasha... maybe you can help with this.

I have this trap on APM state changes too. The previous test version of UNIAUD worked without any problems. I have a HP Omnibook 6000 with Intel SpeedStep. It would be very nice if UNIAUD works with APM again. Vladest, thank you for your work.
