We will stick with version 1.28.4 (quite old) for now — it meets our current requirements (in particular, it is suitable for Firefox 38). As for newer versions, there are some stoppers (the lack of some tools in our toolchain like docbook - they are not critical but require some hacks into the source tree which we want to avoid for now). We will update to a newer version later, when not under stress.
