Sorry for opening a dupe of this one without checking (and for this bug spam).

It now seems to install, but I don't see any object to start it anywhere... is there supposed to be an hplip-gui object?

as it's completely python based there are no objects like exe or such. You need to either ask google or see if the documentation is enough. I must admit, that I only build the gui rpm as well, but I did not test it.
this is a known issue. But the gui is not needed to have it working.
Next rpm will fix it.
