it will be great to have xxx@… JIDs :-)
jabberd2 should work well, and also an ICQ gateway will be great (restricted to netlabs users only to reduce load).

Installed OpenFire, works fine so far but LDAP integration is missing. At least ICQ and AIM gateways work too.

Done & works so far. SSL Certificates are missing as well as ICQ/AIM gateways

Redid it with @netlabs.org domain, SSL Certificates are done as well as gateways.

TheSeer proposed to use a nice XMPP server called OpenFire.
I first didn't want to do our own Jabber server but that one looks nice and should be considered: http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/openfire/
