#27 closed defect (fixed)

What happens when a minimized window on a not active desktop is closed?

Reported by: Gregg Young Owned by: Gregg Young
Priority: major Milestone: 2.9.0
Component: window behavior Version:

Description

I am asking this because it would seem that the off desktop restore code in 2.71 would result in an off desktop location for the window being stored in an ini file which could explain why window sometimes start out side of the current desktop. Must consider if other cases might exist.

This does happen but not to a great extent probably because shutdown pulls the windows to the first desktop before closing them. Rebooting may be worse I need to try it.

FM2 did get lost when it was minimized of desktop one and shutdown was initiated from another desktop

Just upgraded to the latest version (from 2.70). I'm seeing the behaviour that you may be describing here...and it very much happens with EVERY single window which is minimized.

Upon restore, the window is never brought up to the current Desktop in focus (I am using SkyScrapper virtual desktop app).

As you can imagine, this is a major problem since unless I remember which 'parent' Desktop to go back to I simply can not restore the minimized window to a visible status...it basically disappears from my 'Minimized Window Viewer' just doesn't appear on any of the desktops.

This behaviour was NOT present in the old version. I would restore any minimized windows to my CURRENT Desktop...never a guess as to where it actually went...

Can I provide additional debug to help with this issue?

I requested a Priority change from 'minor' to 'major'...in it's current mode I simply can not use this updated version.

I think I'm seeing the same behaviour with the "Search" dialog window of jEdit. Any time I switch to a different desktop, when I'm back to jEdit and open the "Search dialog window", this latest window appears in a different desktop and sometimes completely out of the desktop!
This is a big problem for me with version 2.81.

I noticed this is flagged as 'closed'...can I test now? If so, can you provide the URL to download the test release?

Thanks!
