Hallo Dmitry,
From what I can tell, Java Web Start (as well as the browser plugin) isn't part of OpenJDK and will never be.
Okay
The Java WEB Start function has been Part of Innotek Java 1.4.2_05 , 1.4.2_09 and of GC Java 1.4.1_07 ( add the file WEBSTART.txt from GC 1.4.1_07 as attachment ).
I do need it for running my two main java applications via WEBSTART feature!
As a possible solution we may look at an open source implementation of Java Web Start used in OpenJDK for Linux and provided by IcedTea? (see here). Also, there are other open source implementations of JNLP (Java Network Launching Protocol, see here).
Okay
I had checked the some link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Web_Start ) before posting the requirement.
There are three projects / implementation
--> Snip from Wiki start
JNLP implementations other than Sun's reference implementation:
- OpenJNLP
- netx
- xito
--> Snip from Wiki end
All the project does have no built activity during the last 5 years and more.
Does not look very promising to me :-)
Following the IceTea Link to IceTea WEB http://icedtea.classpath.org/wiki/IcedTea-Web#Netx_Architecture
It does look like an active project to me.
I will test GC Java WS ( see the new attachment ) with the RC as soon as #76 is solved.
kind regards
Rainer

G.M. Anchieri,
for me the resolution of this ticket is becoming more and more important, in Italy I have to use winXp to manage many site because from Revenue system (agenzia delle entrate) to public welfare of Lombardia region use it for managing my info.
Please do you can give a date of resolution?.
