Hardware: Asus M5A88-V EVO + AMD quad-core CPU 2 x 500GB SATA drives connected to motherboard ports 2 x SCSI hard disks and one SCSI tape drive attached to LSILogic PCI card This all works with OS2AHCI ver. 1.25, but with ver. 1.28 or 1.29 there is intermittent disk activity while the eCS splash screen is displayed, then the hd activity LED shows "solid" for quite a while, then nothing: the machine will not continue booting. |

When I build Firefox, I usually have gmake run two processes in parallel ('-j2') and it takes 38 minutes. With NCQ enabled, it takes 45 minutes. I just tried a build running four processes ('-j4'). Without NCQ, it took 33 minutes; with NCQ, it was 39.5 minutes. I frequently use the "deltree" util to delete my entire build tree which has 100,000(?) files in several thousand directories. With NCQ, it is noticeably slower (almost painfully slow). The system:
