should this topic be 'acpi must be IBM free compiler'?
if yes i would also vote for it. as vac is really old. and watcom probably way better than old vac.

The PSD will eventually be ported to OpenWatcom? or possibly gcc. However, there are no known compiler related issues with the current VAC builds, so this will wait until the PSD is sufficiently stable.
Of course, if anyone wants to volunteer to do the conversion in parallel with the on-going development efforts, we will be glad to assist.
Trust me, it will be take at least a man-month of labor to reach the same level of stability as the existing builds.

I have already moved some sections of the ACPI project to OpenWatcom?. Other sections may follow. There is no urgency as the current build system works well and has no problems.
