Description
After upgrading to ACPI 3.9 drivers (just downloading ZIP files and overwriting version 3.8 files) breaks shutdown: From the XCenter, clicking on the big X, then on the Shutdown menu entry makes the whole screen grey (rastered with black dots), then nothing more happens. Mouse and keyboard are still ok, so a CAD (several times) leads to a "clean" shutdown/reboot.
Strange observation: The eStyler Shutdown Settings offer the option "Shutdown (APM)", which I assume should be "Shutdown (ACPI)" if ACPI drivers are "recognized". The same thing if I go to the XShutdown settings: Here the shutdown option offers "APM 1.2", while "ACPI 0.0" is greyed out, i.e. not recognized. If I remember right, both was not the case with earlier versions, i.e. they offered ACPI for shutdown, and I assume that the hang is not due to any real ACPI shutdown problem, but due to some "recognition mechanism" for ACPI and ACPI version!?
Note that I have normally not XShutdown active, so I assume that what I am currently getting comes from the eStyler (with eCS 1.2 though).
My next shutdown will be with PowerOff.exe from the ACPI tools, and if that does NOT work (which I do not expect now) I will report it here!
PowerOff did not even start! And it turned out that during the reinstallation I had managed to somehow generate an acpi32.dll with size 0 and only some bytes of EAs!
After fixing this, the shutdown from the XCenter (which I assume is the one from eStyler) runs just fine as before.
Note: This same problem was also menstioned in my latest report concerning ticket #231
