Suspend/resume, Thinkpad X32, sleep mode doesn't work
Reported by: | Chuck McKinnis | Owned by: | pasha |

Priority: | major | Milestone: | Release version 3.15 |
Component: | ACPI PSD | Version: | 3.07 |

Description
I do remember that ECS1.2R in this machine supports the "sleep" mode, that means when I close the cover the system goes in to "sleep" mode and the "moon" LED lights. But after I install ECS2.0RC4 the system will directly shutdown when I close the notebook.
BTW, I download the ACPI 3.7 and successfully install the package but when I reboot I still see the ACPI version 3.07 displaying on the top of screen.

After reading the acpi docoment I think for Thinkpad X32 it does not need ACPI. After I remove the acpi support the X32 can go sleep and resume normally again.

It's good if IBM APM works for you.
But it's important to check that X32 is supported by ACPI. Please attach acpi logs; if testing sleep/resume then try /VBE

I test again with /VBE but the same problem. In addition, the "sleep -> shutdown" actually is sudenly shutdown, that means the power is shutdown when the harddisk is still in turning (harddisk light does not flash). It generate a big impack sound to the harddisk.

I try to modify the ACPID.CFG as: LID = suspend then when I close the notebook, it does not shutdown but does nothing. for example I play music with PM123 and PM123 will continue playing after I close the notebook.
then I try to modify SleepState? from S1 to S4, same result.

You have error in init acpi. Try add /EIS. SleeState? must be S3, any can't work in your computer.

I test with config.sys PSD=ACPI.PSD /VBE /EIS
acpid.cfg LID=suspend SleepState?=S3
Still when I close the notebook the system does nothing.

today I test the installation of ecs2.0rc4 on thinkpad T30 and make configuration change same as what I did on X32. The system behavior is also the same as X32.

Just move the ticket to Feedback pending. There's no need to state the obvious.
