#56 fixed ACPI, Asus P4C800 Deluxe pasha David McKenna
Description

Using eCS 2.0 rc2 with ACPI 3.02 (debug), APM 1.17 and DaniS506 1.8.1.

Motherboard is an Asus P4C800 Deluxe containing a 3GHz P4 CPU, Intel 875P chipset, ATI Radeon 9600 AGP video, 3COM gigabit NIC, ICH5/AD 1985 audio (see pci.log).

With w4 kernal everything works good. With smp kernal and no switches or /SMP switch everything also works good. Problems occur when /APIC switch is added.

With CPU set to no hyperthreading (and /SMP /APIC) the computer hangs during boot after all devices are loaded (see file Acpi-Hang-NoHyp?.jpg). I need to do a hard reset.

With CPU set with hyperthreading, /SMP /APIC boots and IRQ's are loaded high (see acpi-apic-hyp.log). The only problem is every 3rd boot or so, the CPU meter shows both are at 100% and IRQ load is ~20% and the computer runs very slow (see acpi-apic-hyp-slow.log). The floppy drive light also remains on all the time.

#57 fixed ACPI, Gateway 7405GX laptop anonymous David McKenna
Description

Using eCS 2.0 rc2 with ACPI 3.02 (debug), APM 1.18 and DaniS506 1.8.1.

Computer is a Gateway 7405GX laptop containing an AMD 3200+ Mobile Athlon 64 CPU, VIA K8T800 chipset, ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 AGP video, Rhine II NIC, Broadcom WiFi?, VT 8233 audio (see pci.log).

To get all hardware to work with this laptop, I must add the following lines to acpi.cfg:

LINK LNKA 9

LINK LNKB 11

LINK LNKC 11

LINK LNKD 9

With w4 kernal everything works good. With smp kernal and no switches or /SMP switch everything also works good. Problems occur when /APIC switch is added.

Normally I also add /EIS switch to remove errors in acpi.log. With /SMP /APIC /EIS the computer boot hangs during logo (see file logo-hang.jpg). I need to do a hard reset. I include the file acpi-smp-eis.log for comparison (booted with /SMP /EIS)

With /SMP /APIC the computer boot hangs after all drivers are loaded (see file driver-hang.jpg). I need to do a hard reset. I include the file acpi-smp.log for comparison (booted with /SMP)

Removing audio, NIC, WiFi? and USB drivers made no change. Also /ALS and /CD switches had no effect.

#314 fixed VPIC.SYS; Asus P4C800 David McKenna
Description

I am running eCS 2.0 RC5 on an Asus P4C800 based computer with the SMP kernel and the latest test ACPI (29102008ACPI) using PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /APIC. I also add 'GPEDisable 0x1D' to acpi.cfg (it makes shutdown work correctly).

With the eCS supplied VPIC.SYS all DOS/WinOS/2 windows and apps work good.

With the VPIC.SYS supplied with the test ACPI no DOS/WinOS/2 windows or apps work at all. When I try, the entire screen goes blank and the computer freezes. I have to hit the 'reset' button to reboot (CAD doesn't work).
