#544 | fixed | Report: ACPI 3.20.01 and nVidia nForce4/CK804 chipset
Description |
I can report that this build of ACPI works resonably well with the Asus A8N-E mainboard which uses the nVidia nForce4/CK804 chipset. However, it is not possible to Power off the system with this build of ACPI installed. Shutdown gets as far as closing the Desktop and, after a few seconds the system issues 3 beeps. Pressing the Power Off button on the system box at this point does not cause any problems on next boot. I did try adding /VW to the PSD=ACPI.PSD line to see if that would help but that hangs the system just as the Desktop is starting. |

#543 | Unrelated | ThinkCentre A57: Throttling does not work
Description |
While throttling works normally on Windows, it does not with eCS. From the acpica.log I see that it starts the powerman thread, but says a short time later that 0 of 4 CPUs are controllable. |

#542 | wontfix | Reinstate support for OS/4 loader and kernel.
Description |
The current ACPI driver seems to create more problems for people, than it fixes. Notebooks run hot due to missing powermanagement and HLT, C2,C3... ALL PC boots slower due to new realmode swich in and out during boot. All these problems were fixed years ago by OS/4. Krnl have power control enabled, and loader can preload BASEDEVS before ACPI switches into protected mode. Please make it possible for users to choose these improved versions from OS/4, at their own choice. |
