Freeze on boot on Thinkpad W520

Reported by: tonyval Owned by:
Priority: Feedback Pending Component: e1000e
Version: 0.2.3 Keywords: boot freeze hang
Cc:

Description

Lenovo Thinkpad W520 4276-37U. The ethernet is Intel 82579LM.
If setup.cmd specifies DHCPSTRT, the machine usually freezes on boot, and have to power off. When I did an alt-F2 boot, it did not freeze, but DHCPSTRT did not acquire an IP address. If setup.cmd specifies an IP address, boot is normal.

The first thing to do is make sure you have the correct driver and that it is correctly installed. Please download the TestLog program if you don't have it already (http://88watts.net/download/testlog-2.06.zip), run it:

testlog e1000e

and attach the log file it produces to this ticket.

Please attach the c:\ibmcom\lantran.log file.

Also, please attach a trace file. See http://svn.ecomstation.nl/multimac/wiki/Debugging%20Guide for instructions.

Thanks.
