Correct - straight port - but as I just use it for extracting source from tar.gz files it does all I need....

Building tar, Paul missed -Zbin-files linker switch. That is why his build process tar archives with binary files wrongly...

Initial port done. No extended attributes supported, so no problem with unix attribs (inode number in particular) begin copied incorrectly. Making the testsuite happy was a bit of work and I discovered a bug in rmdir() while doing so (#163). All tests succeed now (or are skipped).
The port is configured for normal and bootstrap builds.
I think Paul's version does not support EA and ACL (straight port).
