Description
Pentium 4 / 1800 MHz 512 GB RD-Ram ASUS P4T-E PCI/AGP ATX-Motherboard with Intel 850 Chipset Adaptec 29160N PCI/Ultra 160-Wide/Fast SCSI-3 Controller, RISC Processor 18.3 GB IBM Ultrastar 73LZX U160-SCSI Matrox Millenium G550 3D AGP 32 MB DDR-RAM Creative PCI Soundblaster 128 3com900 Etherlink III Combo
Power Management in the BIOS is disabled.
after checking disk integrity the installer asks whether to check your CD for read errors. You can answer with Y or N. If you answer with Z by mistake of the Swiss German keyboard, you get a system error SYS0025 and installation stops.
There is a list box showing the text: Failed to read script file it appears when one takes its time to press next or when it formats and that task takes time. There are two buttons in the list box, one called <OK> and one <System Management>. Never press <OK> it forces a shutdown, press <System Management> instead and you can start the installation again. Always react fast to avoid that list box.
The installer automatically set the amp.sys in the config.sys in comment, which is correct because it can't handle a i850 chipset. Some things in relation to the power management are strange:
- after a shutdown, CTRL+ALT+DEL does not work the first time, you have to do it twice with a little intermission in between.
- sometimes booting hangs with the RC4 logo and you can't even press power off it does not work- you have to use the warmstart-disk-reset-button and after that the power switch.
