Server does not always start up correctly

Reported by: dcs Owned by: Silvan Scherrer
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: Samba Server Version: Server 3.3.x
Keywords: Cc:

Description

I start samba server with a shadow of the start samba object from the samba folder in the XWP startup at boot folder.

Most times it starts OK but sometimes, although the two daemons are running, nothing is exported. Usually I try and kill them off but they are more often than not unkillable. Last time I used the restart object and samba did restart and connections could be made.

You might want to try latest smb.cmd (in case you have not) http://svn.netlabs.org/samba/browser/branches/scripts/smb_init/smb.cmd

In line 44 of the script there is a variable named options.!delay (set to 1 second per default). You might want to try a longer delay eventually.

Other hint: Put the Samba object as the last object into the XWP Startup Folder. In addition you might want to enlarge the delay between the XWP Startup folder objects.

Already have that.

Doubled it.

Other hint: Put the Samba object as the last object into the XWP Startup Folder. In addition you might want to enlarge the delay between the XWP Startup folder objects.

Current initial 10 secs, between 3.5 secs it is last.
