Versions of poppler before 0.42.0 do not support AES256 encryption, making it impossible to open PDFs created with newer Acrobats (I've run into a number of these files in the past couple of months). I did just test 0.42.0 on openSUSE 13.2, and both okular and qpdfview were able to successfully open these files for reading. |
