#33 new enhancement

Magic packets cannot be enabled

Description

It seems that magic packets need to be enabled in the driver, before the magic packet can turn a machine on. It also seems that some machines will not remember that some other OS has enabled magic packets, so it would seem that Multimac should enable that feature when the driver shuts down, when the user wishes to use magic packets to turn on the machine remotely.

Something like this is very hardware specific and you didn't specify which MultiMac? driver you were interested in adding this enhancement. Please specify which driver and I'll have a look when I get some time.

Sorry, I missed your response.

The request was specifically for the Realtek 8168 (10EC:8168) <see below>, but it should be possible to control this in all of the drivers (when it will work).

WOL will power up my Lenovo ThinkPad? T510, with an Intel NIC (Intel 82577LM - 8086:10EA), but it needs to be enabled in windows (and plugged in). Once enabled, it stays enabled, unless I disable it using windows. ECS should have a way to control WOL.

WOL will power up my Asus A8N-SLI, with a NVIDIA NIC (CK804 - 10DE:0057), but it needs to be enabled in windows. Once enabled, it stays enabled, unless I disable it using windows. ECS should have a way to control WOL.

I also have an Asus M3A78-EM motherboard, that has a Realtek 8168 on the motherboard. That device quit working, for some reason, and it has been disabled in the BIOS.

I got an Airlink 101 PCI device, which has a RTL8169 (10EC:8169) on it. In windows, I can enable it to wake from sleep state, but apparently, it will not wake from power off (or, I haven't found the right setting). This may, or may not, work in eCS. I haven't got S/R working with that machine. Again, eCS should have a way to enable/disable the feature.

You can take this as being a suggestion to make the drivers better. Whether you implement it, or not, is up to you.

Thanks...
