add poppler-data pack to lucide

Reported by: ataylor Owned by:

Description

PDF files with Japanese text that do not embed the required fonts, but specify installed (system) fonts like "MS Mincho" do not display that text under Lucide.

Lucide apparently does not resolve the specified fonts correctly.

The attached document uses appears to use MS Mincho/MS PMincho. I do have these fonts installed locally, but no text appears.

MS Mincho is listed. Interestingly, MS PMincho, which is in the same file (MSMINCHO.TTC) is not.

I deleted and forced the recreation of this file a few days ago while testing. It didn't help.

try to add the MS PMincho by hand. just add the same line as for MS Mincho and exchange the font name of course.

OK, I've tried adding it. It doesn't seem to help.

i looked at the file and did some small debug. Adobe has a Adobe-Japan1 language pack. We don't. This pack adds the fonts it seems. The underlaying poppler lib can't handle that. please open a ticket at http://poppler.freedesktop.org/

it seems like the poppler-data pack could resolve such issues. need to investigate a bit more

comment:10 by Silvan Scherrer, 14 years ago

ok with the poppler-data pack and the qt4 viewer also based on poppler it works. with lucide it doesn't, as lucide internal fontconfig does garbage on japanese fonts.
