Copy of large number of files has large processor usage and heavy disk activity after completing

Description
I copied 44,000 + files from the collector and after the message the copy is complete I again got 99%+ processor usage, constant hard drive access and a nearly non-responsive WPS. I thought it was updating the target directory which was in an open directory container and contained 124k files. I waited almost 30 minutes before I killed FM/2.
It must be freeing the list or updating containers.
