e-co:

RUS: [Pasha]: это уже больше похоже на проблемы rc6a, но раз родерик точно знает что там проблем нету, я буду думать как его проблемы исправить через acpi

ENG: No suggestions

e-co:

Let's start from the beginning,

please check BIOS Setup, http://en.ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/BIOSTIPS.TXT

then try different advices:

read the SMP APIC section here: http://en.ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=trouble-acpi

short: try to disable some drivers, try different options in BIOS Setup.

I have gone through the BIOS and set for the least options. It does not seem to help.

It will not boot without /FS switch. It will boot with combination of /FS /SMP /PIC

I can boot with /FS /SMP /APIC with this build.

The computer runs OK until I use audio. Once I access audio by playing or opening a mixer, the mouse movement becomes jumpy - feels like IRQ conflict as whole system is "jumpy". The Uniaud RC6 version works OK in PIC mode. None of the new HDA builds I have tested work with this computer. Niether does RC7 of Uniaud.

I must always use the /FS switch to make it boot with /SMP. It will boot with /FS /SMP /PIC

Something else I think important to mention. When I boot the machine from cold, it will run for hours without problem. If it has been running a little, let's say even 5 minutes, if I reboot, it shuts down. It doesn't seem to matter if I boot to a command prompt or try to boot to the desktop. If I reboot and let it go to the desktop, it doesn't ever get to start the GUI before it powers off. If I boot to a command prompt, it will just power off after sitting at the prompt for a minute or two. If I let the machine sit powered off about 20 minutes, it will then boot OK and run for hours without problem. I can boot into Windows XP when the machine is doing this, which makes me think it is OS related.

I have added 2 logs from boots. Having mixed experience with audio still. Not as bad, but still jumpy after playing with /apic

Picture of boot with only /SMP /APIC switches also attached.

Stumbled on something that seems odd. Decided to disable USB to see if audio improved. The machine will not boot if USB is disabled. This happens when remove USB reference from config.sys. I have changed the BIOS to enable/disable USB, and even with it disabled, it still fails to boot. I have been able to repeat this many times. Screen picture of failed boot. Did hardware detection on each configuration change alt+F1 -> F5
