ACPI must be UNCHECKED when installing eCS20RC4 on CF-30

Description

Hello,

During my tests of installing eCS20RC4 on a Panasonic toughbook CF-30, I discovered that the option ACPI MUST be unchecked. Otherwise installtion process hangs on line "Loading SCREEN01.SYS"

Now eCS20RC4 is running. In the config.sys I do not find any line with ACPI in it. I find 3 lines with APM in it : DEVICE=c:\os2\boot\APM.SYS DEVICE=c:\os2\boot\VAPM.SYS RUN=c:\os2\APMDAEMN.EXE

I was asked to install ACPI afterwarts. (files from BetaZone?) I have read the faq and documentation on this site, but it is not clear to me how and what package I need to install! I guess acpi-20080423.zip (V3.9) would be a good one, isn't it? Or must it be "acpi-apm-20080423.zip?

I attach the technical specs of the CF-30 hereby. Maybe this can help you to help me to help you.

Regards,

Patrick

How to install ACPI? Download ACPI package, open readme file (http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=acpi)

disable APM.SYS (IBM APM)

acpi-20080423.zip - it's main package. install it. try to boot, grab ACPI log, attach it to the ticket

if you boot ACPI.PSD without troubles then download acpi-apm-20080423.zip, it contains APM.ADD

OK I got it !

disable APM.SYS (IBM APM)

OK done

acpi-20080423.zip - it's main package. install it.

OK. I copied the new files over the old ones

try to boot,

NO SUCCESS ! Tried a lot of combination of switches (options) I have no more ideas.

grab ACPI log, attach it to the ticket

How the grab ACPI-log when I can not boot with ACPI ?

if you boot ACPI.PSD without troubles then download acpi-apm-20080423.zip, it contains APM.ADD

Sorry But I am not aible for the moment to boot with ACPI.PSD

See http://svn.netlabs.org/acpi/wiki#SubmittingTickets, especially the section titled How to Collect Logs. This will link you to http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=logs

You need to follow the directions in the LOGS-1 (Boot fails) section.

e-co:

In short,

the notebook hangs at "Loading SCREEN01.SYS"

Again, you should make the photos, else no chances to solve the problem

comment:8 Changed 15 years ago by pasha

about what this ticket? And why it linked with ACPI? And why 7 months it is open?

comment:9 Changed 15 years ago by ecsnl

I gues its clear why its linked to ACPI it seems the system hangs on screen01.sys when ACPI.PSD is installed and without boots ? Why it has been open for 7 months ?

Did you not notice it before ? It might partly be open for so long because you never provided any feedback ?

because user don't give log with problem. And main header talking about problem with ecs install.

It was clear to me that the user had and ACPI issue. IAC, the ticket should have been assigned to Feedback Pending. My bad. We are all supposed to be working on this together. If you see problems with milestone assignments, fix them if the fix is obvious. Otherwise, post to the acpi-admin list.
