Trap in os2boot, when it is going? Stage of boot?

In your change, right choice is "Store (0x03E8, OSYS)",. because we use same source ACPI interpreter.

Why you set /OS="Microsoft Windows NT" ? Your table has't case with "Microsoft Windows NT" and you are remmed all in patched table.

Next I can say after getting acpi.log, or photo of screen with acpi.log.

How it can do. Try boot without any option for acpi.psd, if boot - "copy acpica$ acpi.log" and attach log here. If can't boot, next steps. Install debug kernel, remove \os2logo from boot drive, install acpi.psd from debug directory, place file AltF2On.$$$ to root of boot drive. Boot, when freeze - make photo and attach here.

Trap in os2boot, when it is going? Stage of boot?

Many drivers load, but appears to trap at DANIS506

In your change, right choice is "Store (0x03E8, OSYS)",. because we use same source ACPI interpreter.

Fixed.

Why you set /OS="Microsoft Windows NT" ? Your table has't case with "Microsoft > Windows NT" and you are remmed all in patched table.

Removed this from config

Using debug acpi, AltF2On.$$$, removed \os2logo:
Still traps, see P100-trap-debug-acpi-Oct25.jpg
Tried with no parameters, see P100-trap-debug-acpi-Oct25-no-parms.jpg
Copied debug kernel, see P100-trap-debug-acpi-Oct25-no-parms-debug-krnl.jpg

Question: I have debug krnl (1,373k) from acpi-kernel-20070123.zip package. But this package does not have loader or doscall. Please clarify: is this correct debug krnl? what ldr and doscall to use with this krnl?

comment:5 Changed 16 years ago by pasha

BTW, acpi.psd don't support external ACPI table for SMP kernel.

Can you boot with ACPI w/o SMP or with Uni kernel? I need in acpi.log. Make as "copy acpica$ acpi.log". Also, check danis506.add version. Must be 1.8.x. Can you try boot with /SMP /APIC ?

comment:6 in reply to:  5 ; Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Replying to pasha:

BTW, acpi.psd don't support external ACPI table for SMP kernel.

Thank you for reminding me :)

dani is 181

I have booted with 6 configurations (no debug acpi, no debug krnl):
Oct26-smpkrnl-EIS-SMP-ALS-APIC.jpg
Oct26-smpkrnl-EIS-SMP-R-APIC.jpg
Oct26-smpkrnl-SMP-APIC.jpg
Oct26-smpkrnl-SMP-PIC.jpg
Oct26-unikrnl-ASF.jpg
Oct26-unikrnl-NoParms?.jpg

I also tried

/EIS /SMP /FS /PIC /OS="Microsoft Windows NT"

I got the same trap as Oct26-smpkrnl-SMP-PIC.jpg, but it appeared many more drivers were loaded this time. This time I saw the usb, apm & dani drivers being loaded just before the trap.

Pasha, I can not complete boot :(
Please answer my earlier question regarding debug krnl

I have installed eCSrc3. With ACPI off, I have GENMAC working well. I am using Panorama and widescreen activator, I have beautiful 1440 x 900 native display![[BR]]

Now for ACPI:

  1. is it true I can use SMP krnl to run in UNI mode (no /SMP switch)? I am tired of copying files back and forth when I am testing.
  1. I lost my downloaded kernels, please point me to URL to get them. OR, can I use the kernels on the eCSrc3 CD?

Never mind, I found uni & smp kernels I used smp krnl with /smp /r, also tried /smp /r /eis, also tried /smp /r /eis /cd

Each time, boot process did not complete. Refer to screen shot in P100-Pro-Nov-22-2007.zip

Hi, I tried 3.07, looks like some progress :) Setup: smp krnl, aspi.psd /smp /r /eis (also tried /cd and /fs) All drivers appear to load correctly. I do not have sound drivers in config but I do have genmac and usb (latest) System boots to desktop and hangs. See file mar-4-p100.zip, I had screen saver enabled on boot, I disabled that and now it hangs on desktop (just after the archive check)

hmm.. it's core duo, you should try apic mode (/SMP /APIC)

check the recommendations regarding WPS hang here: http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=trouble-acpi

comment:16 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Hi
thanks for the quick reply[[BR]] Regarding WPS hang,

my config has \amouse\amouse.sys and \amouse\usbmouse.sys

I use eCSMT, but the fix for Peer SMP is not shown. eCSMT is set up for support of SMP updates. I have checked Applied Updates and Optional Updates, but I do not see the fix anywhere.
Where can I get this?

comment:17 Changed 16 years ago by eco

Do you run AMOUSE with SMP switch? check ACPI-SMP-DRV.doc

comment:18 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

Stupid me
Peer is not installed here, only TCPIP :)

I booted with /smp /apic /r /eis
still hangs at the desktop :(
then I modified amouse,sys SMP
booted twice and laptop turned off just before desktop
on the 3rd boot, I got the familiar desktop hang with no icons and clock stuck in the middle :(

comment:19 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

My amouse.sys is Jun-04-2006, funny that eCS beta has the older driver.

eCSMT does not show any upgrades for amouse

I checked Hobbes, not there
Where is amouse download?

comment:20 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

http://www.nbsoftware.de/ -> Software -> AMouse -> http://www.nbsoftware.de/index2.htm -> AMouse 2.8 (in the bottom)

comment:21 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

I found it, but it installs amouse.sys of jun-4-2006 same as I have.
So I already had latest amouse.sys.

In the 2.80 archive, amouse.dll, amouse.exe, mouslass.exe and mousydll.exe are nov-1-2007. usbmouse.sys is aug-7-2006

The acpi-smp-drv.doc specifies "20.08.2006" which is misleading. Should change to "ver 2.80 avail from www.nbsoftware.de"

comment:22 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

OK..

let's return to start point. did you read ACPI-SMP.doc?

  • disable all drivers, devices (USB, audio, net, mouse)
  • try boot /SMP /APIC
  • then add drivers one by one

check BIOS Setup.. ops.. ecomstation.ru is down http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/BIOSTIPS.TXT

comment:23 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

This is CRAZY
after I reinstalled amouse (back to uni krnl with acpi remmed), I rebooted with SMP krnl
just like before, on 2 boots the laptop turned off, on the 3rd boot I got frozen desktop - weird eh?

I would like to confirm my current settings:
acpi.psd /smp /acpi /r /eis
(apm.add & acpidaemon are remmed)
amouse.sys SMP
smp files: os2krnl, os2ldr, doscall1.dll
I also have a hacked dsdt table, see file P100-Oct25.ZIP, but I recall hacked dsdt can not be used with smp, correct?
Audio is already disabled, I will disable the others and report.

comment:25 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

I am sorry, I don't look into your logs, Pasha understands the logs. so,

Do you use bootable JFS? If you use then .. if you have trap then boot from eCS 2.0 RC4 CD1 (or the 2-nd eCS volume with eCS 2.0 RC4 jfs.ifs+ujfs.dll) and chkdsk x: /f

try boot again

comment:26 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

I booted with /smp /apic, with the following remmed: amouse.sys, usbmouse.sys, genm32w.os2, helperw.exe, all the usb drivers (uniaud is not installed)
I can boot to desktop but keyboard does not work. When I un-rem amouse.sys, my keyboard works. Weird.

comment:27 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

So..

Step 1 -- OK

you can boot to /SMP /APIC, what happens in 2-3 hours? does notebook work well? uptime utility is OK? Make some tests: http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/?action=certificate

Step 2 -- enable drivers one by one, read troubleshooting if you have troubles with USB, etc

btw, look here: http://svn.netlabs.org/acpi/ticket/141

comment:41 Changed 16 years ago by Chuck McKinnis

P100 BIOS does not manage irq's, and it does not allow PIC, so LINK can not be used.
P100 BIOS has VERY little options actually.
I tried 3.09 with /apic /smp /r /eis, the boot stops about half way.
If I rem all the usb lines, P100 boots to desktop but no ecenter, os/2 clock was frozen in middle of screen, system unresponsive.
If I ALSO rem genmac & helper, P100 boots to normal desktop

Version: 3.153.17

Hi Pasha, I have some time to play with 318FULL. With /smp /acpi /eis (usb & genmac remmed), the laptop stops booting before the desktop, however with /pic things look promising.

With /pic machine boots normal (usb & genmac remmed). Then I added APM... laptop boots normal except there is a strange conflict with eCenter. eCenter takes very long to draw on the screen. Other folders & apps open normal. When the eCenter finally finishes drawing, the beer widget shows correct battery info. Other weirdness is that acpica.log never stops writing, gets bigger & bigger.

Version: 3.17

New log acpi-log-Tosh_Sat_Pro_P100-dec-12-2009.ziq
This setup is /smp /acpi with genmac remmed
USB works fine but genmac causes hang after desktop is drawn but before icons appear, mouse hung in center of screen.
I have tried genmac with /pic and /acpi, same result.
I have also been playing with OS/4 kernel, no difference.
You will note from this log apm is remmed. There is definitely a conflict with apm and ecenter. eCenter takes many many minutes to draw, but all other folders & apps work fine. Any time you use the eCenter while apm is enabled, you have to wait many minutes too see th result. eCenter shutdown took about 20 minutes.

comment:70 Changed 14 years ago by ecsnl

I just reproduced it here on a T42. When I take out the battery widget the ecenter comes up on the next boot. It might not be the same code problem that we had before. But the way the problem happens looks like the same problem in ACPI, querying the battery status.
