#239 unknown Fn Keys do not work. Appear to require specific ACPI support that is missing... pasha Carl (guest)
Description

I asked the following question on the Lenovo Forum:

Lenovo Support Document Title:
How to use the function (Fn) keys on the keyboard - ThinkPad? R60, R60e, R61, T60, T60p, T61, Z61e, Z61m, Z61t
Document id: MIGR-62714
Last modified: 2007-06-10
Conflicting Statements:
First, it says:
"The following table shows what each function key (Fn) key on your keyboard is for and how to use them.
Note:

  • The Fn key works independently from the operating system."

But, then later, near the bottom:
For: Fn + F9

It says:

"Note: This function is supported only in

Windows 2000 and Windows XP."

So, which is it???? "...independent of OS..."

or: "...only in Windows..."

ONE response that came back, because I did not mention OS/2-eCS was:

"...does that mean you use Linux? If so, this should answer all your questions:"

It appears from my very quick look at this page that most of the functions are actually controlled by ACPI.

#194 unknown T61 issues Chuck McKinnis
Description

There seem to be a variety of issues with T61 Thinkpads. Though I would open a new ticket to disuss them.

I am running with SNAP 505, ACPI 3.06, and APM 1.21.

The screen is fine when wide resolution is enabled (1280 x 800).

The beer battery widget is rather strange. When eCenter opens it shows the wall plug icon and 100% (which is correct) then immediate decides that no battery is in the machine. When I get a chance, I will back off to APM 1.20 and report back.

UNIAUD without any parameters traps the machine. With the /C:ICH parm, the machine no longer traps, but it fails to initialize. I have the latest ALSA resynch (2008-01-28) installed.

#574 duplicate Machine will not boot David Azarewicz Cyberpastor
Description

Motherboard is Asus M5A88-V EVO

Worked fine with ACPI 3.21.04 with the /VW switch, but with 3.21.06 I saw the eCS "boot blob", then a flashing cursor in the top left, and that is the state in which it remained.

I booted to a maintenance partition and removed the /VW switch, then rebooted. This time I saw the beginnings of a Trap 0008 report, but then it froze part-way through the CS:EIP line.
