CD-ROM Drive not recognised by v1.7.8 or newer

Reported by: diver Owned by: Steven Levine
Priority: major Milestone: Release-1.8.12
Component: danis506.add Version: 1.8.7
Keywords: regression Cc:

Description

While installing ecs 2.1 i found out that my cd-rom drive is not recognised. in phase1 it was seen, but from then on it was not seen by the system. i then tried a couple of different dani drivers and found the last working one. Version 1.7.7 still works as it should, but 1.7.8 doesn't see the cd-rom then.

Summary: CD-ROM Drive not recognisedCD-ROM Drive not recognised by v1.7.8 or newer

Please redo the data collection as documented in problem.txt. There's not enough in what you have supplied so far for me to see why the detection is failing.

Please modify config.sys to load dani506.add v1.8.9 or newer with the /DEBUG:-31 switch and attach the report.trc output to this ticket.

See problem.txt for more details.

Hi Silvan,

The new log reports the disk controller as

Intel ICH1 PATA host (8086:2411 rev:02) on PCI 0:31.1#0

The original logs reported

Intel ICH2 PATA host (8086:244B rev:02) on PCI 0:31.1 @33MHz

This implies the new logs are are from a different system.

If this system is also failing to detect the secondary controller, please capture a

/DEBUG:-31 log with a working version of the drive. Otherwise, please capture a report from the original system.

Steven,

both systems behave exact the same. I now added a /DEBUG:-31 with the working Danis. Also from the new system. The new system is available for more tests if needed the next 2 weeks.

Steven, the situation is still the same also with your testversion.

as this ticket is resolved since some month now (with a build i got from Steven by mail), i really wonder where the code checkin is.

At long last the modifications have been fully committed to svn as of changeset 103. They will be available in the 1.8.12 GA binary release which should appear soon.
