Milestone Stabilization

The goals of this milestone are to:

1. Provide a clean codebase that compiles without warnings

2. Establish and document the requirements for building the driver from source with predictable results, and fix the code as necessary so it builds consistently.

3. Repair any regressions from 1.1.4
