#102 Multi-Document support Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 10, 2007 Aug 1, 2007 guest

While I dislike the idea of MDI, I would vote for a "tabbed" interface to allow multiple documents to be opened at the same time. The "Find" function should have an option to search all tabs.

#119 Possibility of filling PDF forms Lucide Core 1.0 RC enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed May 28, 2007 Aug 1, 2007 guest

If Lucide is to replace Acrobat completely, it should be able to modify PDFs that contain forms, such as the US tax forms ( http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/ ). Currently, only Innotek's Acrobat Reader 5 Preview 1 can do that.

#118 Won't open file with multiple dot's in filename Lucide Core 1.0 defect Eugene Romanenko closed May 23, 2007 Aug 1, 2007 guest

Lucide v1.0 (01-Feb-2007)on ecs v1.2 Filename with multiple dots, like 'anyname.today.pdf' is not seen in the file list and cannot be opened. Changing filename resolves this problem.

os/2 version 5.1.04/24/10 of Adobe Acrobat handles this with no problem; see ticket #86.

#107 RC1 wont load Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 RC defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 24, 2007 Aug 1, 2007 guest

After trying both the EXE and WPI versions, I have been able to get Lucide 1.0 RC1 to start. I have tried on three different eCS platforms (eCS 1.1, 1.2R and 2.0 beta respectively), but the result is the same in each case - no response from the program.Lucide Beta 4 runs fine on these(but does not print properly to the system attached to a Postscript LaserJet?).

#100 Setting lost for page type Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 Beta 4 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 4, 2007 Aug 1, 2007 guest

#99 printing stops after first lines of a line-drawing Lucide Core Beta 4 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Dec 24, 2006 Aug 1, 2007 guest

Setup eCS 1.2NL with a good working Laserjet 6L. Did use Lucide beta 4. Tried to print a page from a technical manual setup as a 1.2 pdf. The printed page contains plain text with a small line drawing (small schematic). After the first lines of the line drawing printing stopped and left me with a about a quarter of the page printed. The same page did print succesfully with AR4.05.

#95 Printing to postscript file does not have correct header Lucide Core Beta 4 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Oct 19, 2006 Aug 1, 2007 guest

If the postscript printer selected is set to output to file, the first line of the file is not %! which says that it is a postscript file. E.g. The first few lines of the postscript file that is generated: *

[{ %%BeginFeature?: Smoothing True << /PostRenderingEnhance? true /PostRenderingEnhanceDetails? << /REValue 2 /Type 8 >> >> setpagedevice %%EndFeature?: Smoothing } stopped cleartomark

*

Adding %! to before [{ allows me to lpr this file to a postscript printer.

This is a bug in beta4

#93 Cannot hide instruction to user layer in pdf document Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Oct 17, 2006 Aug 1, 2007 guest

#90 Printing pegs CPU 100% Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Sep 14, 2006 Aug 1, 2007 guest

Hi.

Another printing aspect noticed, when I print multiple pages.

  1. printing progress dialog appears rapid until last page number, so last page appears to take soooo long.
  2. Printing impacts my CPU usage (System Resources 4.00 on OS/2 shows 100% while printing progress dialog is in view.

#82 Lucide beta 3; problems with Symbol font Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Sep 1, 2006 Aug 1, 2007 joachim@…

A beta tester of beta 3 reports: (ecs Ticket ID: #1062)

I have problem with the Symbol font used by Coplot (a Java drawing prog) in its PDF files (an example is attached). These PDFs render just fine with Gview/Gscript?, but in Lucide all characters from Symbol look blocky and pixellated. The rendering of Symbol characters produced from (eg) Latex seem OK

#19 Program fails on filenames containing an underscore. Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 1.1 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jun 8, 2006 Aug 1, 2007 marcus@…

#112 Support TAB or Ctrl-F6 to switch between panes Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed Feb 5, 2007 Jul 26, 2007 guest

Thanks

#113 beta4 prints but not RC1 and 1.0 to network postscript priner Plugin: PDF 1.0 Beta 3 RC defect Eugene Romanenko closed Feb 9, 2007 Feb 9, 2007 guest

Installed at my work place is a Xerox Phasor 8550. I am using the 8400P driver since we don't have a newer one. I could print to the printer with beta4 using Print type As image. But with RC1 and 1.0 the printer only spits out page after page of postscript.

#105 date/time should be preserved when updating EA Lucide Core 1.0 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 23, 2007 Feb 1, 2007 guest

When adding the thumbnail EA to a PDF file, the date/time should not be modified. Currently, the PDF file's date/time is updated to the current time; it should be reset to the original timestamp when only the EA is changed.

Version set to 1.0 since there isn't an RC1 selection yet.

#109 No thumbnail in EAs (1.0 RC1) Plugin: PDF 1.0 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 26, 2007 Jan 30, 2007 guest

Hi, I have installed the latest Lucide (1.0 RC1). In the changelog it says "Writes into EA thumbnail of first page of document (for eSchemes Deluxe)". I am a registered eSchemes Deluxe user. BTW, I can't see any thumbnail of my PDFs. Inspecting the EAs I don't see any thumbnail being created. When is it created? I even tried to _save_ a copy of a PDF to see if it was creating the EAs in that case, but still no joy.

#103 Find dialog behaviour and appearence Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 10, 2007 Jan 21, 2007 guest

In all other PDF - Viewers, the text in the "Find" - Dialog is initially selected, so that typing a new word will delete the old text. I would prefer this behaviour over the current situation where newly typted search text is appended to the previous.

Also, the height of entry field in for the search text is much big. It is probably set up using the same height as the "O.K." button besides it, but since the text typed in is bottom-aligned, it looks kind of weird.

#94 SYS3175 when printing a PDF file Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Oct 17, 2006 Jan 20, 2007 ygk@…

#101 Lucide should recognize PDF files that have wrong or nonexistent extensions. Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 Beta 4 enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed Jan 5, 2007 Jan 7, 2007 guest

It would be helpful if Lucide could recognize a pdf file even if the extension was wrong or non-existent. I had an occasion where an online bank site displayed statements that were PDF files, but there was no extension on the file name so Lucide didn't recognize it. I had to use Acrobat to display it or download the file, rename it then use Lucide.

#54 Zoom selection tedious Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 2 Beta 4 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jul 18, 2006 Oct 12, 2006 pr
  • The Zoom Selection combobox is not wide enough to see the text - you get "Fit in Wind" rather than "Fit in Window".
  • The Zoom Selection does not change immediately when using the Arrow Keys - you have to press Enter after cursoring. It changes immediately when using the mouse.
  • The drop down list is annoyingly short. Why limit yourself to 5 lines?
  • Where is the Zoom tool that on Acrobat allows you to just click the mouse to zoom in or Control-click to zoom out?

#50 Application exits after attempt to open .PDF or .JPG Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 2 Beta 4 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jul 18, 2006 Oct 12, 2006 TheRealPhil

The application start up okay. I can navigate through the menus. Howeve, after clicking Document-Open and then selecting [PDF or JPG file] followed by OK, the application exits.

There are no error messages and no POPUPLOG.OS2 file. This is the same for all versions of LUCIDE; that is, v1.0, v1.1 and v2.0.

Since I have a couple of compilers, it's possible that my SOM paths and files are missing or nonstandard. What SOM files and what SOM paths are required by LUCIDE? Currently, I have tried to separate the SOM stuff from Visualage C++ v3.09; from the Warp Toolkit v4.52; and from the eCS v1.1 base into their appropriate sections.

That is the only thing I can think of that might be causing the problem.

Is there a debug mode for LUCIDE?

Sorry, but I'm kind of stuck!

#74 PDF default association Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 Beta 4 enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed Aug 29, 2006 Oct 11, 2006 ktk

So far we just create an icon & folders for Lucide, it would be nice if it would associate Acrobat Documents as well with the program object. Also, there should be an optional question if one wants to have Lucide as default PDF viewer. That should be an option, not a default however :-)

#79 Update WarpIN install file Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 enhancement ktk closed Aug 31, 2006 Oct 11, 2006 guest

I have extracted and updated the WarpIN install file to provide for NLV support in the WarpIN and offer the user the option of making Lucide the default for PDF files. It does not quite work correctly in that it does not seem to be able to delete the entries for PMWP_ASSOC_FILTER and PMWP_ASSOC_TYPE in OS2.INI, and I cannot figure out why.

Will do some more testing and debugging.

#78 Need DosSetExtLIBPATH in lucide.exe Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 3 Beta 4 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Aug 31, 2006 Oct 9, 2006 Chuck McKinnis <mckinnis@…>

The lucide.exe should really have a sequence to provide access to its own DLLs without the necessity of making an entry in CONFIG.SYS or using something like the RUN!.EXE.

DosQueryExtLIBPATH (to get the current value and save it)

DosSetExtLIBPATH (to put the Lucide directory at the beginning of the extended libpath)

DosSetExtLIBPATH (to restore what was saved)

I am not a C programmer, so I can't really put in the code.

#71 Minor suggestions for zoom, dropdown and search Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 2 Beta 4 enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed Aug 7, 2006 Sep 17, 2006 guest

The dropdown box that offers various zoom options is too narrow to show the whole text of some of the options. For instance, I have "Actual Siz" and "Fit in Wind". There is a lot of space on the tool bar. Why make the zoom select too narrow? Or add a "+" and "-" to step the zoom up or down.

Using a magnifying glass as a symbol for Search is wierd, for me anyway. I am used to magnifying glasses for, well, magnifying. The only application I recall seeing the MG for search is Reader. Hmm, is there an icon that is commonly used for finding/searching?

I have tried opening BMP files (handled I expect by the GBM Plugin) and Jpeg files (handled I hope by the JPG plugin) and in all cases the program aborts and reports an access violation in LUGBM.DLL.

Upon testing, by moving GBM.DLL once again out of the working directory and trying to open the JPEG file again - it opens without problems, so I start to suspect that there may be a compatibility between the GBM plugin and version Beta2 of Lucide ?

The body text of some PDFs is not displayed, or is displayed white-on-white. Text that has a different color (non-black), is bolded or underlined, is displayed. There is space for the text as though it were meant to have something there.

I can provide a sample file on request.

#47 Vendor name in WarpIN should be filled in correctly Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 1.1 RC defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jul 17, 2006 Jul 17, 2006 David van Enckevort

In the WarpIN archive the vendor name is currently XXXXXXXXXXXXX, this should be filled in correctly. This should be done before the release version, to keep it easy for testers to update Lucide.

#18 Plug-in API should support delayed loading of requested file pages only Lucide Core 1.0 Beta 1 enhancement Eugene Romanenko closed Jun 7, 2006 Jul 7, 2006 hn_netlabs_trac@…

First of all my congratulations to the very good idea of a generic document viewer. It looks really promising. For developers the plugin API needs to be documented but I guess this is planned already.

I just had a quick look at the plugin sources of the PDF reader because it takes quite long to open a PDF file with many pages.

The Plug-in API seems to support only loading a file as a whole with all pages. This might not be possible for large documents (e.g. big multipage images or complex PDFs) due to system memory constraints. Also it forces the user to wait unecessarily long time and finally the user might not even want to have a look at all pages of the document.

As a workaround plugins could defer loading pages to view during rendering but this is obviously not intended as there is no way to report read errors.

I'd suggest to either enhance the loadFile function or introduce some kind of page switching function with a return code that allows plugins to load a document page on demand. This might be also helpful for supporting document streaming from an URL if this is planned sometime. If memory gets low, the plugin could drop pages from memory if not needed to reduce memory footprint.

#41 closing Lucide with ALT-F4 is only possible right after starting Lucide Lucide Core defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jun 30, 2006 Jul 1, 2006 Robert Henschel

When you double click the Lucide icon, or open a PDF document that is associated with Lucide, you can close Lucide with the keyboard by pressing ALT-F4. But this only works if you have not transfered focus inside Lucide to the document area. If the document area has the focus, you have to press CTRL-X to close Lucide (ALT-F4 will not work). If the menu or the navigation pane have the focus, you can also use ALT-F4 (and CTRL-X will also work).

I do not vote for one or the other keyboard shortcut, I just would like to have it consistent. (well, actually, I would like ALT-F4 to work in Lucide from everywhere ;-) )

#30 fonts cache initialized on each invocation of Lucide Plugin: PDF 1.0 Beta 1 defect Eugene Romanenko closed Jun 14, 2006 Jun 26, 2006 joachim@…

It seems that the fontscache is initialized each time Lucide is invoked. This also overwrites the fontscache that may have been generated by other programs like The Gimp installer.

This is bad for two reasons:

1) performance (!) 2) Lucide drops fonts that The Gimp did add (for example from other fontdirectories)

This has been reproduced on two systems.

#32 Fonts.cache-1 issues Lucide Core task Eugene Romanenko closed Jun 14, 2006 Jun 26, 2006 gerrit@…

Each time you try to load a PDF-file in a new LUCIDE window it takes an awful lot of time to load the document. But if you keep on loading PDf's in the same LUCIDE instance which was once already opened by a PDF, the PDF documents are opening extremely fast.

Probably this is caused by each time reading/creating the fonts.cache-1 file in C:\PSFONTS each time a PDF is opened in a new LUCIDE window.

Furthermore the fonts.cache-1 file is also created by Alex Taylor's GIMP installation routine. I have noticed that starting HOBLink X11 and The GIMP some fonts from C:\PSFONTS were not available anymore when LUCIDE was run before. I got them back by running the font-script delivered by ALEX TAYLORS GIMP package. Conclusion: fonts.cache-1 created by Lucide is not the same as the one created by The GIMP installation routine. Most probably LUCIDE will cause the same trouble with XFree86/2 .

Solution? LUCIDE must check if there is a FONTS.CACHE-1 file already present. Furthermore FONTS.CACHE-1 files should be independent from the program they were created by, or Lucide should create it's own cachefile (with an unique name)

This is more or less aduplicate of http://svn.netlabs.org/lucide/ticket/30
