v2 v3 30 30 == JFS boot disks == 31 31 Because of the way that the JFS boot loader works, booting from a JFS boot disk may be slower than booting from an HPFS boot disk. We are investigating a way to improve the performance of the JFS boot loader. If you have a JFS boot disk and the slow booting is a problem for you, you can try one or more of these suggestions to improve your booting performance: 32 * Use the /VW switch to prevent using the IO APICs.33 * Make sure you are using the retail version of the PSD.32 * Make sure you are using the retail version of the PSD, not the debug version. 33 * Make sure you are using a retail kernel, not a debug kernel. 34 34 * Do not use the ALT-F2 function or the ALT-F4 function. 35 35 * Don't load basedevs that you don't need. (Possible examples: PRINT01.SYS, IBM1FLPY.SYS, APM.ADD) 36 * Use the /VW switch to prevent using the IO APICs. 36 37 37 38 There is also the possibility that booting from a JFS boot disk may fail completely, or that certain other devices (such as the keyboard or mouse) may malfunction.
