Description

An external USB 3.0 harddisk of 950 GB (partitioned into a 500 GB and a 450 GB JFS partition) works fine with 10.178 build, but not with 10.179 on a ThinkServer TS100 (Intel 3210 ChipSet, will add PCI.exe output tomorrow). It does not work with original IBM drivers.

Try the attached. Do not forget to copy the *.tff files to OS2\system\trace so that a formatted trace can be generated if necessary.

ok, with the one from HERWIGB.ZIP the external harddisk works again.

However the one from HERWIGB.ZIP triggers a different problem: The mouse does not work after boot. If I detach it and reattach it again, it will work normally. The mouse works normally with the IBM drivers and it works with 10.178. It is a standard optical Microsoft 3-Button wheel mouse.

Please attach device report for the mouse (from USB dock/USB resmgr).

Report about the harddisk from USB ResMgr and USBDock

Added both reports from the mouse and the harddisk.

One thing I noticed in USB-Dock: It reports "Hohe Geschwindigkeit (2.0)" for the mouse and "Schildkröte (sehr langsam)" for the harddisk. I did not have the impression the harddisk was slow - is there a way to reliably check whether that's wrong (ie. what transfer rates should I approximately see...).

I don't know whether that is a (more or less cosmetical) USB-Dock issue or a driver issue...

Looking at the reports from USB ResMgr/USBDock: your mouse is USB 2.0 and your harddisk is also USB 2.0. The problem with USB-Dock is likely a driver problem. I am currently working on getting a proper boot with multiple USB 2.0 devices plugged in on boot. I suspect that I hosed something along the way. I will need some more time.

The harddisk is NEVER connected during boot because the ThinkServer hangs during BIOS startup before the boot manager if the harddisk is plugged in during startup.

During boot only mouse and keyboard are connected and with the build from HERWIGB.ZIP the mouse does not work until I pull it and plug it in again.
