#140 fixed ATI IXP 150 AC'97 (1002:4341) - no codec detected Brendan Oakley
Description

When Uniaud32.sys loads, it gives this error:

ERROR: Initialization failed
<3>atiixp: codec reset timeout
                              <3> aiixp: no codec detected!

However, this happens most of the time. 1 out of every 20-30 boots, it loads and works perfectly. There does not seem to be any pattern; it is as random as dice.

#118 too-old Accept kernel parameters in CONFIG.SYS martini Brendan Oakley
Description

ALSA modules can accept kernel parameters on the modprobe commandline: e.g.:

modprobe snd-hda-intel model=medion

This can help to enable hardware-specific quirks necessary for proper functioning, in some cases, especially with support for the newest hardware. Uniaud should accept and utilize these same parameters in the same way from the CONFIG.SYS, perhaps:

DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\UNIAUD32.SYS model=medion

or:

DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\UNIAUD32.SYS /K:model=medion

Description

Another proof of audio buffer problems with UNIAUD is the bloopersextra I mentioned before. I send you the link privately where to download. For people reading this bug and thinking why I did not post this link compared to the other links. Its a private video that was made at school at the teacher never liked. He comes walking into the class room and is filmed, thats all...

Anyway, Vladest. Download and play with MPPM.EXE. It plays smooth ? Startup stpm.exe and put the "Software Audio Sampling rate" to 11.025 Hz under the tab "OpenMPEG Video". Then play the file again You will see it halt and play. If your (un)lucky the MPG playback will hang your desktop... If its set to 44.1 Khz the mpg file is played back correctly. But its another testcase which seems to be linked to the rest of the problems with files not playing properly.
