#102 fixed Device is not in proper state - after RC1 Paul Smedley Yoda
Description

RC1 does not have this problem - it starts from RC2

From logs for almost all hardware I have seen, from RC2 and on we always seem to have left device in an non proper state. a short example from alsahlp$:

Hardware parameters: sample rate 22050, data type 2, channels 1, period size 1024, periods 32 Device is not in proper state: 1. Calling prepare

All devices seems to play ok - but in RC1 it seems like "prepare" was never called, so something must have been changed, since we now always are in non proper state

#153 unknown Distorted sound using uniaud114RC6 losepete
Description

While installing eCS2.0RC5 onto a 2nd system here I discovered that the eCS2.0 supplied Uniaud, 114RC6 for non-HDA chipsets, loads OK at boot but produces distorted sound.

I then went for backlevelling Uniaud to find a working driver - I knew that such a beast existed because this used to be my main system.

114RC5 loads OK but produces no sound at all.

114RC4 loads OK and sound is about right.

Chipset involved: nVidia CK804 / Realtek ALC850 on an Asus A8N-E mainboard.

Sorry, did not think to get logs while uniaud114RC6 was installed due to being more interested in finishing an eCS install...

Will try to find time early next week to assemble both "working OK" and "distorted sound" logs and attach to this report.

#68 fixed Distorted sound with ATI IXP SB400 (1002:4370) David Azarewicz Brendan Oakley
Description

Report from David Azarewicz. Testing Uniaud 1.1.4RC3.

Vendor 1002h ATI Technologies Inc Device 4370h IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller Subsystem ID 30AE103Ch Unknown Subsystem Vendor 103Ch Hewlett-Packard Company

Mixer: Conexant id 30 This is a notebook computer.

Driver loads, reports "ATI IXP rev 2 with unknown codec at 0xd0003400". Sound works but is unusually loud and is distorted. Turning the volume down only makes it quieter but does NOT reduce the distortion. No change from 1.1.4rc2
