= Uninstalling NetBIOS over TCP/IP manually =

In case MPTS refuses to uninstall NetBIOS over TCP/IP or crashes, here is a cookbook to do it manually.

 1. You have to edit the file {{{x:\IBMCOM\protocol.ini}}} (where x: is your bootdrive).

 1.1. Look for the section {{{[IBMLXCFG]}}}! [[BR]]
 Remove the line {{{tcpbeui_nif = tcpbeui.nif}}}.[[BR]]
 Leave the remaining lines of the section as they are.

 1.2. Look for the section {{{[NETBIOS]}}}[[BR]]
 Remove the line {{{ADAPTER1 = tcpbeui$,1}}}. Leave the remaining lines as they are.

 1.3. Look for the section {{{[tcpbeui_nif]}}}[[BR]]
 Remove the complete section.

 1.4. Save {{{protocol.ini}}}.

 2. Edit {{{CONFIG.SYS}}} 

 2.1. Remove (or put a REM in front of) the line {{{DEVICE=x:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL\TCPBEUI.OS2}}}.

 2.2. Remove (or put a REM in front of) the line {{{RUN=x:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL\NBTCP.EXE }}}.

 2.3. In case you want to remove the complete IBM LAN Requester from CONFIG.SYS also remove the following lines:

 {{{DEVICE=C:\IBMLAN\NETPROG\VNETAPI.OS2}}}[[BR]]

 {{{IFS=C:\IBMLAN\NETPROG\NETWKSTA.200 /I:C:\IBMLAN /N}}}

 {{{SET NWDBPATH=C:\IBMLAN\NETPROG}}}[[BR]]
 {{{SET DLSINI=C:\IBMLAN\NETPROG\NETGUI.INI}}}[[BR]]
 {{{SET INIT_FILE_NAMES=netgui}}}[[BR]]
 {{{SET INIT_FILE_RANGES=200}}}[[BR]]
 {{{SET WPS_COMMUNICATION=YES}}}[[BR]]

 {{{RUN=C:\IBMLAN\NETPROG\LSDAEMON.EXE}}}[[BR]]
 {{{RUN=C:\IBMLAN\NETPROG\VNRMINIT.EXE}}} 

 2.3. Save your {{{CONFIG.SYS}}}.

 3. Run LMSync.EXE (only necessary if you did NOT remove the IBM LAN Requester).

 4. Reboot.
