#304 fixed Project title needs correcting for URL object in server WPS folder Lewis Rosenthal
Description

The object title currently reads:

Samba for eCS (OS/2) at netlabs

Suggest this should be changed to agree with title on wiki page, which is now:

Samba for OS/2 and OS/2-based systems

This would certainly fit better for ArcaOS. ;-)

#303 not fixable sscc: Statusbar tips are incomplete (not yet created; duplicated; incorrect) Lewis Rosenthal
Description

I can't find this while browsing the source, or I would provide a diff.

Hover over "LM announce" and the statusbar text displayed is:

This string is shown when browsing. v% is expanded into the version Samba number.

(I can't find this in the English mkm here. I must be missing it.)

This same text is used for Server string, Null passwords, Log file, and the rest of the options on Global, page 1. It should really only apply to the Server string, and needs some correcting ("%v" and "Samba version number").

Honestly, I would use the statusbar for general page help, e.g., "This page defines the highest level of the Samba server configuration." I would then suggest tooltips for the various items on each page, so that the user's eye does not need to constantly shift to the statusbar.

#301 fixed Minimum password length enforcement is inconsistent Lewis Rosenthal
Description

During install, I created root with a 4-character password. I was also advised that at some point I should create a "user" user (predefined usernames are rarely a good thing, but we can have that discussion another day).

Later, I attempted to create a "user" user (in smbusers) with the same 4-character password, and was advised that the password was too short.

  1. I can find no setting in smbusers or in sscc to set a minimum password length.
  2. It seems oddly inconsistent that I was able to create a root password of only four characters, yet that is now too short for standard users, even when I have the null password option selected in sscc (Global, page 1).
