Lucide blocks Presentation Manager

Description
Opening a large PDF file blocks (clock symbol) the Presentation Manager. If I download https://publibfp.dhe.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/a227832c.pdf to a JFS partition on a SSD and open it, Lucide blocks PM for 10-20 seconds. See https://mantis.arcanoae.com/view.php?id=1987 for background.

This build should be identical to 1.5.0 GA, except that the file load code is run at idle priority. The side-effect of this is that some files may now take longer to load, but the WPS should not block. (I have not tested, however).
We need to be specific about which performance issues are being discussed in which tickets, too. This ticket is specifically about WPS blocking (inability to open/close/manipulate the Lucide or other windows and/or objects on the desktop while Lucide is opening a file). Issues with rendering, slow reading from disk, slow page-to-page moves, etc. should be discussed separately unless there is some common factor which can be tied to all of them
Also, this ticket seems to involve all backend processes. I am still unconvinced that this is not the PDF plugin itself, so a large bitmap would be handy for comparison purposes.
