initial v1 1 1 Some thoughts on why it could work before. While just the very same code is IcedTea-Web 1.3 which we released before and which used to work, it seems that it was much less likely that Firefox would issue the second request (to get the object) immediately after the first request (to initialize the instance) so it was less likely that two workers would overlap in time. Now something has changed in Firefox and we get this. Also, CPU load on a particular system could affect it greatly which would explain why we might have seen similar deadlocks from time to time with 1.3 as well. 2 3 Also, this dirty code may work fine on Linux due to differences in how thread execution is scheduled by the kernel. Or may be their Firefox behaves differently. There are lots of options, actually.
