#46 fixed FAT corruption and stuck system (ARCAOS/DOS full screen/R249) Barry Landy
Description

I have a newly made ARCAOS system.

My previous system was ECS22 beta, presumably using version 913 (2008) and no ill symptoms.

I dont know which release is part of ARCAOS but I found that obeying a CMD file from a FAT32 formatted disk could cause the contents that file to vanish (not the file iteslf). There appeared to be other corruption associated with that problem.

Not unreasonably LEwis Rosenthal recommended that I try R249, which I installed using the WPI version.

The above problem did not occur. However running a DOS in a full screen window (which I need to do for other reasons) and obeying a BAT command (calling word perfect) all seemed well until I exited word perfect when the systen froze.

On the forced reboot the partition showed lots of errors to the extent that it said "use SCANDISC under Windows".

Reverting to the "stable release" 913 these problems do not occur.

I arranged for full backup of the partitions that are vulnerable and tried again, with very similar results so the effect is repeatable.

I dont know what diagnostics would help.

#45 worksforme Need IFS version without exFAT Lewis Rosenthal
Description

exFAT is proprietary Microsoft technology, regardless what code Samsung wrongfully put out with a GPL license attached to it (it wasn't their code to so license).

Accordingly, Arca Noae cannot distribute any driver with exFAT code in it. Rightfully, exFAT belongs in a separate IFS, but I'm not going to make that argument, here. Instead, I would request a separate build of FAT32.IFS without exFAT support.

The build of FAT32 included in ArcaOS apparently contains some issues which have subsequently been addressed, and we would like to provide an updated package, however, we are currently only able to refer users here to obtain code from the project page.

#44 fixed Version 0.10: cannot build erdmann
Description

I downloaded the sources, I followed the build instructions. But I cannot build. There is a problem with including file "fat32c.h" which includes some Windows header files. Even though it is bracketed by an #ifdef OS2, if "format.c" is compiled OS2 seems to be undefined and therefore the attempt to include the Windows header files which I don't have.
