Summary:                    External mouse on Laptop, CUPS: printer not
recognised, no sound, no USB sticks
Description:
Already during the installation the external mouse is not seen on a T520.

One must install without soundcard, otherwise the system hangs while
booting. See ticket 222 on netlabs.

Installing printer Brother HL-2035:
You can choose the HL-2035, but after clicking on "Create printer object"
a window opens and says:
The ECUPS presentation driver appears to contain no information about
"Brother HL-2035" or any similar models. The generic PostScript driver
will be used for application support.
And of course this is not working on a GDI printer.

The USB stick I used during the installation for the regkey is not seen by
the system after installation.

On the same T520 the external mouse and the USB stick work with eCS 2.1.

Please open one ticket per problem, it's impossible to track properly
otherwise.

Regarding:
The ECUPS presentation driver appears to contain no information about
"Brother HL-2035" or any similar models. The generic PostScript driver
will be used for application support.

This message is basically harmless, it just means you may not have as
fine-tuned control over job options.  It only applies to the presentation
driver, not the actual CUPS driver used for the printer.

And of course this is not working on a GDI printer.

It SHOULD work, as long it's supported by CUPS.  Can you confirm it
actually doesn't work?

I tried to delete the faulty installation of the USB printer, but that
didn't work. I wanted to repeat the installation and protocol it.
Do I have to reinstall eCS to try again ?

Not at all.  If you're having trouble deleting a printer, try downloading
http://www.os2site.com/sw/comm/faxworks/prndrv.exe
and running 'prndrv -l' to verify the printer name, then 'prndrv -d
<name>' to delete the printer.

The CUPS queue will not be deleted that way, but it's harmless to leave it
there.  You can delete it using the CUPS Administration tool in your web
browser (http://localhost:631/printers/ -> select the printer, then the
'Adminstration' dropdown has a delete option).

Many thanks! It worked and I was able to repeat the installation of the
printer (see attachments). If I want to print, I can hear the printer
starting but it is not printing and one of the CPU's is up to 99% and
stays there forever.

That 99% problem sounds like a CUPS server problem that has been
experienced by others (at least IIRC).  It might be better to open a CUPS
ticket on this at http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/newticket or else report it
on the netlabs.org.ecups.devel list at gmane.org.
