This problem description is much too vague for me.
AiR-BOOT is a track0 boot-loader and not a command-line tool.
I assume you mean the accompanying SET(A)BOOT tool, which is a cli program.

I gather it does not work for you but you fail to give any details...
First of all, are you using the correct SET(A)BOOT.EXE ?
The command bldlevel SET(A)BOOT.EXE will show if it is the AiR-BOOT version.
There are multiple other versions of SETBOOT.EXE, namely from older OS/2-eCS systems
and versions from FSYS -- the creator of DFSee / DFSVOS2.

Until you specify your problem in more detail I am unable to help you.

Regards,

Ben.

The one included with eCS 2.1 and 2.2Beta

[C:\]setboot
SETABOOT v1.07 - AiR-BOOT Configuration Utility - (c) 2004-2011 by M. Kiewitz
SETBOOT enables Boot Manager to be setup for a hard disk.
Syntax:

SETBOOT Q
SETBOOT or /T:NOM:mX:xN:nameBIBD:dIBA:name

where the parameters are:

Q Queries currently set startup information.
T:x Sets timeout value to x seconds.
T:NO No timeout occurs.
M:m Sets mode: m=n Sets normal mode (default).

m=a Sets advance mode.

X:x Sets the system index to x (0-3).
N:name Sets the volume or logical disk, specified by "name"

and its index value "N", as the operating system to start.

B Shuts down and then restarts the system.
IBD:d Shuts down and then restarts the system from the logical

drive specified as "d".

IBA:name Shuts down and then restarts the computer from the system

specified as "name".

[C:\]setboot /Q
SETABOOT v1.07 - AiR-BOOT Configuration Utility - (c) 2004-2011 by M. Kiewitz
SETABOOT: AiR-BOOT 1.07 detected.

Timeout 15
Mode Advanced

[C:\]

Hmm, it has till now complained to the parameters I've tried, but now allowed me to bott to the other system as i typed in setboot /IBA:"Another OS"
You can then close this case for that reason, but then I'd like to ask if it is picky about the name of the OS? Could you include bootable systems in the list under /Q?

It seems you have version 1.07 installed.
This version is 2 years old.
Also, the latest eCS v2.2 beta is of may 18, so you might want to
try that one if you are evaluating the eCS v2.2 beta's.

AiR-BOOT V1.1.0 is the latest version.
(Following the WarpIN versioning format)
It should be included in the latest eCS v2.2 beta.
You can also download the whole AiR-BOOT v1.1.0 shebang from here:
http://svn.netlabs.org/air-boot
This archive also contains the Manual in PDF and INF format.

It's always best to use the tools that accompany the boot-loader itself.
See the manual.

So, please, first read the manual accompanied with v1.1.0.
Then see if your problem still exists, and if so, post your experience here.

Thanks very much for your feedback, jep.

Regards,

Ben.

PS: The manual will be extended to cover the supporting tools in the future.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Currently AiR-BOOT is restricted to an 11-char system name, not containing spaces.
This is a legacy inheritance and cannot be easily fixed/lifted at this time.
This implies that, when you name a partition/volume with MiniLVM,
only the first 11 chars, and without spaces, are recognized by AiR-BOOT.
And it's support tools like SET(A)BOOT. (With the /IBA:<sys-name> option)
This limitation might be lifted in future versions.

More detailed information with /Q is scheduled for release v1.1.2.
This ticket will remain open until then.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
