#53 fixed eCS 2.0 version of ACPI hangs at WPS load on boot anonymous edurrant@…
Description

Performing a clean install to a new partition on an AMD X-2 equipped clone PC using the ASUS M2V-TVM motherboard with SMP Kernel installed via the eCS 2.0 process but in non-SMP mode loads fine however when I amend the command line in Config.sys as shown below a reboot hangs with no error messages at the point whwre I would normally expect the WPS to load.

PSD=ACPI.PSD /PIC /SMP /R BASEDEV=APM.ADD run=D:\OS2\CMD.EXE /Q /C D:\OS2\ACPIDAEMON.EXE

Replacing the ACPI.PSD, ACPIDAEMON.EXE and APM.ADD files with the previous version: 26/05/07 9:16 232195 272 acpi.psd 26/05/07 9:17 55710 419 AcpiDaemon?.exe 26/05/07 9:16 11258 271 apm.add

Allows the system to boot correctly in SMP mode.

Here are the file details of the files supplied with eCS 2.0: 24/08/07 12:42 244985 0 acpi.psd 24/08/07 12:42 56159 0 AcpiDaemon?.exe 24/08/07 12:42 12081 0 apm.add 12/01/06 16:26 14464 0 APM.SYS

3/04/02 15:52 2733 0 APMDAEMN.EXE

#54 fixed Shutdown feature of APM/ACPI does not work under eCS 2.0 RC1/2 pasha edurrant@…
Description

In the version of this code supplied with eCS 2.0 beta 3 and 4, selecting shutdown closed the system and powered off the PC (Both on my IBM Thinkpad T30 and my ASUS M2V-TVM AMD X2 based system (in non-SMP mode). In the more recent versions this no longer occurs - one is left with the message informing you to power off manually or C-A-D to restart. I have tried the /R (?) switch and this makes no difference.

Ed

#56 fixed ACPI, Asus P4C800 Deluxe pasha David McKenna
Description

Using eCS 2.0 rc2 with ACPI 3.02 (debug), APM 1.17 and DaniS506 1.8.1.

Motherboard is an Asus P4C800 Deluxe containing a 3GHz P4 CPU, Intel 875P chipset, ATI Radeon 9600 AGP video, 3COM gigabit NIC, ICH5/AD 1985 audio (see pci.log).

With w4 kernal everything works good. With smp kernal and no switches or /SMP switch everything also works good. Problems occur when /APIC switch is added.

With CPU set to no hyperthreading (and /SMP /APIC) the computer hangs during boot after all devices are loaded (see file Acpi-Hang-NoHyp?.jpg). I need to do a hard reset.

With CPU set with hyperthreading, /SMP /APIC boots and IRQ's are loaded high (see acpi-apic-hyp.log). The only problem is every 3rd boot or so, the CPU meter shows both are at 100% and IRQ load is ~20% and the computer runs very slow (see acpi-apic-hyp-slow.log). The floppy drive light also remains on all the time.
